July 3rd Trail Update

Week # 10 of the MBT Trail Crew Season!

They enjoy long rainy days in the woods, the smell of gasoline and 2-cycle engine oil and eating lunch in the dirt. The MBT trail crew is a dedicated bunch to getting your tires on new singletrack. With the second installment of the all-new Hillbender loop underway, we will be focused on finishing the loop over the next couple weeks.

Don’t worry, the crew has a full schedule of regular maintenance this season coming soon. Also, don’t forget to reach out with trail maintenance reports and work reports of your own.

Join us this evening, Monday 7/6/20 @ 5:30pm for an evening of work on the Hillbender loop! Be ready to work with boots, gloves, eye protection and water. FACE MASKS REQUIRED!

Here is what the crew was up to last week:

  • Monday After a long time in the woods and moving dirt, the crew’s tools take a beating. Chris and Alec spend a rainy Monday at the warehouse sharpening hand tools and chainsaw chains, organizing gear and cleaning the work truck. Much needed TLC.

  • Tuesday Back into the woods, the crew set out to swing saws, clearing and swamping the trail corridor for the second installment of the Hillbender loop. Machines were fired up and dirt was moved.

  • Wednesday Continued progress on Hillbender loop. The crew finished clearing the trail corridor, cutting new trail with the machines and even began finish work from the top junction of Grumpy’s.

  • Thursday With Chris at the helm of Tiny Dancer pushing new trail, Stacey and Eric continue much needed finish work behind the machine. Each day the machines are running, they cut roughly 800-1200 ft of new, unfinished tread, depending on the terrain.

  • Friday The crew took Friday off for a long weekend and sampled some hero dirt here in the valley.
